ACTS Recovery Homes

About the Meadows Home

The Meadows home sits in a well-established Austin, TX, neighborhood, right near our dedicated women’s sober living home. That proximity is intentional. Having two ACTS homes in close reach of each other creates a broader, more active recovery community than any single home can build on its own. Residents from both homes cross paths regularly at meetings, and the shared network strengthens accountability in both directions.

It’s a men’s home. It’s a furnished, community-style house with private rooms, a shared kitchen and dining space, on-site laundry, and Wi-Fi throughout. The home is clean, well-maintained, and held to a standard that reflects what everyone inside it is working toward.

The Meadows home has one of the most active peer communities in the ACTS network. Part of that comes from the neighborhood. The Austin, TX recovery community in this area is strong, welcoming, and easy to plug into from the first week. Part of it comes from the proximity to our women’s home, which extends the ACTS community beyond the walls of any single house. Most of what makes the Meadows home work is the community of men inside it: the daily accountability of people doing the same work in the same space.

Austin, TX, has one of the strongest AA and NA communities in Texas. The Meadows home’s location puts residents within close reach of that community. Most new residents find their home group within the first week. The sponsor connections and home group relationships built through Austin’s recovery network often outlast a resident’s time in the house and become some of the most important relationships in their long-term sobriety.

House Program and Expectations

Every man who moves into the Meadows home commits to the same program expectations as every other ACTS home. These aren’t flexible:

  • All residents must be working or actively searching for work
  • AA or NA meeting attendance is required from day one
  • An active sponsor relationship and real step work are required
  • Random drug and alcohol screenings apply to everyone
  • Curfew is in effect every night
  • Residents share household responsibilities

The structure isn’t punitive. It’s the daily framework that early sobriety depends on. The men who commit to it fully are the ones who leave with their lives genuinely rebuilt. The accountability here is real. It comes from the house, the sponsor, the home group, and the broader ACTS community surrounding this home.

Employment is a core part of the program. Working or actively searching for work is required because financial stability is one of the most reliable supports for early sobriety. Having a reason to get up, a place to be, and income coming in removes the instability that’s most likely to lead to relapse. The Meadows home’s location gives residents realistic access to employment across Austin TX.

The 12-Step Foundation

The 12-Step program is the foundation of everything at the Meadows home. Meeting attendance, a sponsor, and active step work aren’t optional. They’re the structure of the program and they’re the daily practice of sobriety. Read our full program before you call so you know exactly what daily life looks like here.

Austin TX has one of the strongest AA and NA communities in Texas. The Meadows home’s location makes that community accessible. Most residents connect with a home group in the first week. The sponsor relationships and peer connections made through Austin’s recovery community are among the most valuable things a resident takes with them when they leave.

Step work is where the personal work of recovery happens. Sitting with a sponsor and honestly moving through each step, from the first honest inventory through active amends and daily practice. That’s what distinguishes lasting sobriety from short-term abstinence. The Meadows home has been supporting that process since 2007.
