ACTS Recovery Homes

Who Is a Good Fit for ACTS Recovery Homes

ACTS Recovery Homes is a structured sober living environment. It is not a treatment center, a detox facility, or a crisis shelter. It is for the adult who has made a genuine decision to get sober and is ready to live in a community that holds them to it.

A good candidate for ACTS is someone who:

  • Has at least 30 days of sobriety
  • Is working or actively looking for work
  • Is willing to attend 12-Step meetings regularly and get a sponsor
  • Can commit to curfew, house meetings, and random drug screenings
  • Is ready to be part of a community and held accountable by it

If that description fits, we likely have a home for you. If you are not sure, call us, and we will be honest about whether the program is the right fit for your situation.

The Requirements

Every resident at every ACTS home agrees to the same requirements from day one:

30 Days of Sobriety

We ask for a minimum of 30 days of continuous sobriety before moving in. You do not need to have completed a formal treatment program, but you do need to be sober when you arrive and have been sober for at least 30 days before moving in.

Employment

Every resident must be working or actively seeking employment. This is not optional. Employment is built into the structure of the ACTS program. We see having somewhere to be and something to contribute as central to recovery, not separate from it.

12-Step Participation

Regular 12-Step meeting attendance, getting a sponsor, and working the steps are requirements for all residents at all five of our Austin, TX homes. Learn more about our 12-Step approach.

Curfew and House Rules

Curfew applies to all residents. House meetings happen regularly. Residents share in maintaining the household. Random drug screenings apply to everyone without exception. These are the expectations that make the community function.

No Active Mental Health Crisis

ACTS is a sober living environment, not a psychiatric or crisis facility. If you or your loved one is in an active mental health crisis, please contact a crisis line or treatment facility first. Once stabilized, ACTS may be the right next step.

How the Process Works

Here is what to expect when you reach out:

Step 1

Call (512) 900-5711 anytime. We will answer and give you our full attention.

Step 2

We ask a few questions – your sobriety date, your employment situation, whether you have experience with the 12-Step program, and which part of Austin works best for you.

Step 3:

If there is a good fit, we talk through which of our five homes has availability and makes the most sense for your situation.

Step 4

We discuss move-in timing, what to bring, and what to expect on your first day.

Step 5:

You show up. Your room is ready. We walk you through the house expectations clearly and completely from day one.

The whole process from first call to move-in can happen in as little as 24 to 48 hours, depending on availability. If the home you want does not have an opening right now, we will be honest about the wait and stay in contact.

Choosing the Right Home

We operate five homes across Austin, TX. Each runs the same program with the same expectations. Which home is the right fit depends on where you work, how you get around, and sometimes which community feels right when you visit.

We have men’s sober living homes across multiple locations and a dedicated women’s sober living home. When you call, we will help you identify the best match.

What to Bring on Move-In Day

Keep it simple. You do not need much to get started. Bring:

  • Enough clothing for a week (you will have laundry access on site)
  • Toiletries and personal items
  • Any medications you take regularly (disclosed up front)
  • Government-issued ID
  • Payment for your first week or month (call for current rates)

Your room will be furnished and ready. What you bring is up to you, but we recommend keeping it minimal at first. Many residents add things over time as they settle in.
