About ACTS Recovery Homes - Sober Living in Austin TX Since 2007
ACTS Recovery Homes was founded in December 2007 by Mike Archer with one goal: to provide safe, structured, affordable sober living in Austin, TX, for men and women who are serious about their recovery. Nearly two decades later, that goal has not changed. We operate five homes across Austin, TX, all running the same 12-Step-based program with the same daily expectations. Call us anytime at (512) 900-5711.
Our name says exactly what we are. ACTS stands for Active Commitment To Sobriety. That is not a tagline. It is the operating principle of every home we run. Recovery does not happen passively. It happens through deliberate daily action – in meetings, in step work, in employment, in the honest accountability of living alongside other people who are doing the same thing.

Who We Are
ACTS Recovery Homes is a private sober living operator based in Austin, TX. We are not a treatment center, a halfway house, or a crisis facility. We are a structured sober living environment for adults who have made the decision to get sober and are ready to live in a community that holds them to it.
We have 34 Google reviews and a 5.0 star rating – not because we are perfect, but because the people who come through our doors and commit to the program experience real results. Many of those reviews were written by men and women who arrived with very little and left with jobs, apartments, and years of sobriety. That is the measure of whether a sober living program actually works.
Mike Archer is hands-on with every home and every resident. He is reachable. He knows who is in the house. He knows when something is wrong. That personal involvement is not incidental to how ACTS operates. It is central to it.
Our History - Austin TX Sober Living Since 2007
ACTS opened its first sober living home in Austin, TX, in December 2007. The Collinfield home – our original location – has been running continuously ever since. It was the proof of concept for everything that followed: that a structured, 12-Step-based, peer-accountable environment could give men and women in early recovery a genuine chance.
In the years since, ACTS has grown to five homes across Austin, TX. Each expansion occurred after the program had proven itself at existing locations. We did not scale quickly. We scaled carefully because the program’s quality is what makes it work.
Today, our five homes span both sides of the city. All five operate under the same program, with the same expectations and accountability.
What We Believe About Recovery
We believe that sobriety is a lifestyle, not a phase. It requires daily habits, honest relationships, and a community that holds you to the standard you set for yourself. We believe that employment is part of recovery, not separate from it. Getting up with somewhere to be and something to contribute is one of the most stabilizing forces in early sobriety.
We believe the 12-Step program works – not because we were told to believe it, but because we have watched it change lives for nearly two decades. Meetings, sponsors, step work, and service are the foundation of life at every ACTS home. They are requirements, not suggestions.
We also believe in being honest. We are not going to tell you that recovery is easy or that ACTS is for everyone. It is not. It is for the person who is ready to commit fully – to the structure, to the community, and to the daily practice of sobriety. The people who come in with that commitment tend to leave with their lives back.
