ACTS Recovery Homes

About Sober Living

What is sober living?

Sober living is a structured, peer-accountable housing environment for people in recovery. Unlike treatment, it is voluntary and community-driven. Residents live together, hold each other accountable, and follow shared house rules that support sobriety. It is a bridge between early recovery and fully independent living.

A halfway house is typically court-mandated, short-term, and connected to the criminal justice system. Sober living is voluntary, longer-term, and community-accountable. At ACTS, you choose to be here. That distinction matters. Voluntary commitment is one of the strongest predictors of successful recovery.

No. We are a sober living operator. We provide structured housing and peer accountability, not clinical treatment. If you or your loved one needs medical detox or clinical treatment, that should happen before moving into an ACTS home. Once the acute phase is over, sober living is often the right next step.

Curfew. Regular house meetings. All residents are working or seeking work. 12-Step meeting attendance. Random drug screenings. Contributing to household upkeep. These are consistent across all five homes.

House meetings keep expectations transparent and give every resident a voice. They typically cover house logistics, any issues that need to be addressed, and general community check-ins. They are a core part of how ACTS homes stay accountable.

A relapse while living in an ACTS home is treated seriously and may result in the resident needing to leave. We are not punitive, but we are honest about what the community requires to function. The accountability structure exists to protect everyone in the house.
